If you’re a college student at an institution that has closed due to COVID-19 disruptions and you’re unable to work your scheduled Federal Work Study (FWS) hours, your institution may continue paying you wages during a closure. Federal law includes a provision allowing an institution to make FWS payments under certain limited circumstances to disaster-affected students who are unable to continue working.
Your school will document whether or not you work by other means (on-line, remote, telecommute, etc.) or unable to work at all. If you have questions, contact your institution to see how you may qualify to continue receiving wages under your FWS program.
